Lim Vannarith is a 14-year-old student from Prey Russey village, Sangkat Preah Ponlea, Serey Sophorn City, who has turned discarded scrap materials into fully functioning remote control vehicles.

As he says “Hello, dear uncle and aunt! My name is Lim Vannarith, I am 14 years old and because I have had a passion since I was young, it motivated me to do this.”

Vannarith has made wonderful toys such as remote-controlled mini-harvesters, along with other toys such as cars and tractors.

The young lad states: “I combine this material with discarded items and scrap materials such as cans, foam and so on.”

His latest innovation is a remote-controlled mini-harvester, which he produced with a week’s work and a cost of 40,000 riels ($10)

The young Cambodian inventor is a freshman in 8th grade and aspires to be a designer.

We are sure, that with such an entrepreneurial and enterprising spirit – as shown by this young boffin – the future for Cambodian innovation is bright.
