The aim of this project is to promote sustainable livelihoods for local people in protected areas, ensure efficient natural resource management, and conserve biodiversity to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2025. The green tourism corridor will start with environmentally friendly camping sites, Khmer-style accommodations to cater to lodging needs, cycling trails, and other tourism products.

Minister Eang Sophalleth has directed his technical team to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to strategically plan for the creation of the green tourism corridor. The Preah Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park has at least 85 tourist spots, including beautiful waterfalls, ancient temples, and natural ponds. A total of 1,246 families with 5,036 people (including 2,446 women) live in the protected areas of the national park.

With this plan, Cambodia is paving a new path for sustainable tourism, creating development opportunities for local people, and protecting the country’s precious natural environment.
