During the discussion at the Ministry of Labor, representatives from KOJIMA HOLDINGS, the initiating company of the Khmer village investment project, shared with the minister about the process of organizing and decorating their farm into a beautiful Khmer venue to attract foreign visitors, Japanese guests, and Cambodians working, living, and studying in Japan.

Heng Sour expressed gratitude to the Japanese private sector for their interest in establishing a Khmer village in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture, to showcase Cambodian materials, Khmer cuisine, coffee shops, and Cambodian crops.

On December 18, 2023, the Cambodian Minister visited the farm in Japan, as well as inspected the construction progress. In order to create an atmosphere as close to Cambodia as possible, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training provided some materials for use and display in the village, including Chhaiyam drums, monkey masks, etc.

Japan announced that the first Khmer village in Japan is expected to be inaugurated on June 30, 2024. With the construction of the Khmer village in Japan, both countries aim to create a space where Cambodian culture can be showcased and honored. It will be a place where Japanese people and international tourists can visually and vividly experience Cambodian culture.

This project not only contributes to promoting cooperation and friendship between Cambodia and Japan but also creates a cultural bridge between the two countries. Let’s look forward to this special event and hope that it will open up new opportunities for understanding and mutual respect among different cultures worldwide.
