Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union gifted 25,000 face masks to Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union and Viet Nam Youth Federation presented 25,000 face masks to the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia through the Embassies of Laos and Cambodia in Vietnam.
Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Tuong Lam said Vietnamese youngsters would be always side by side with youngsters and citizens of Laos and Cambodia in fighting Covid-19, expressing his hope that the two countries would soon stamp out the epidemic.
Receiving the gift, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang said face masks would soon be distributed to Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union.
The diplomat asserted the Lao Embassy in Vietnam would serve as a bridge to connect the Youth Unions of the two countries. He also hoped that exchange activities between the two unions would be further promoted in the time ahead.
On behalf of Cambodian youngsters and residents, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth extended his thanks to Viet Nam Youth Federation for their meaningful gift. He said the Embassy always supported exchange activities between the two Federations.
The number of new cases in Laos has been steadily increasing, with a peak of 100 in a day. Epidemiological investigations show that the new infections are close connections to illegal entrants.
In the Lao capital of Vientiane, central hospitals are full of patients, requiring field medical facilities to be mobilized to treat Covid-19 patients. The country has not recorded any death from the pandemic so far.
Cambodia has logged 11,761 Covid-19 cases; of which 11,210 cases are linked to the outrageous February 20 community outbreak. 89 deaths have also been reported.
