The cruise industry is booming, with more and more travellers choosing to set sail for a journey on the high seas. To keep up with demand and offer guests the best possible experience, many cruise companies are bringing out new ships that are larger, more technologically advanced and more luxurious than ever before. But what’s the biggest cruise ship in the world?

Currently, Royal Caribbean‘s Symphony of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship. It measures over 360 metres in length, weighs nearly 230,000 tons, and can hold up to 6,680 passengers (as well as a 2,200-person crew). Completed in 2018, it is the fourth ship in the company’s Oasis Class series.

As one might expect of a ship of such great size, The Symphony of the Seas has a huge variety of dining options, including 20 restaurants as well as plenty of bars and lounges. It also boasts multiple theatres, an ice-skating rink, a rock-climbing wall and a zip line, and guests can enjoy a wide variety of pools, surf simulators and water slides. There is also a ‘central park’ with over 20,000 tropical plants, and a spa where guests can relax.

Symphony of the Seas sails year-round from Miami to the Caribbean. Some of the ports include Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Select itineraries will also visit the cruise line’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.
