Diageo plc is a British multinational beverage alcohol company, with its headquarters in London, England. It operates in more than 180 countries and produces in more than 140 sites around the world.

It was the world’s largest distiller until being overtaken by China’s Kweichow Moutai on 9 April 2017. It is a major producer of beer and also the world’s largest producer of Scotch whisky.

Diageo was formed in 1997 from the merger of Guinness Brewery and Grand Metropolitan.

Diageo has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It has a secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Diageo’s global net sales amounted to approximately 1.18 billion GBP in 2020. Scotch is its largest category, representing 23% of our total net sales for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2020. It has a marketshare of 36% for Scotch whisky and today’s market cap is £81 billion.
