If kangaroos and pristine beaches aren’t enough to get you to Oz, well, there's probably no convincing you. Seriously, what do you have against Australia? But if you need another reason to put you over the top about Down Under, well here it is: the world's longest zip line ride.
Crazy Treetop Rider “Xtreme”, the 3,280ft-long roller coaster zip line in question, opened on Nov. 16, 2014 at Ourimbah State Forest on the country's Central Coast. The ride claims to be at least three times longer than any other standard tree ride. Which, who doesn't know the standard length of a tree ride?
Unlike conventional zip lines, which take riders in a boring straight line, the five-minute, 59ft-tall ride whisks passengers through a series of unexpected twists and turns as the cable curves around the trees, thanks to a sophisticated high-wire technology developed by the park owners and tree-ride-maker Ecoline.
“We thought it would be incredible to build [a zip line] to go around the trees, up and down, and even with 360-degree loops to really ramp up the fun factor”, park owner Sandrine Gaymard said. “The result is amazing. It’s a twisty, curly, thrilling ride in the tree tops.”
