Trafigura Group Pte. Ltd. is a multinational commodity trading company founded in 1993 that trades in base metals and energy. Headquartered in Singapore, Trafigura is legally registered in Singapore. Farringford N.V., registered in Curaçao, is the ultimate parent company. It is the world's second largest private oil trader after Vitol and the world's largest private metals trader.
Trafigura was set up by Claude Dauphin and Eric de Turckheim. It split off from a group of companies managed by Marc Rich in 1993.
Trafigura has built or purchased stakes in pipelines, mines, smelters, ports and storage terminals.
