The event took place at Chaktomuk Conference Hall in Phnom Penh on Aug. 10 and was presided by  Mrs Phoeurng Sockona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.

Hoang Dao Cuong, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia also joined the event.

Addressing the function, Mrs Sackona underlined that the Vietnamese Cultural Week in Cambodia, organized under the cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Embassy of Vietnam, reflects the good cooperation between both neighboring countries. .

The significant event provides an opportunity for the two peoples to enhance their mutual understanding, and contributes to further elevating the friendship, neighborhood and cooperation between both nations and peoples to jointly recover from the COVID-19 crisis, she added.

For his part, Dao Cuong lauded the good ties of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in the past 55 years, bringing about practical benefits for the two peoples.

An exhibition showcasing the culture, lifestyle and education of Vietnam is open to the public during the cultural week.
