With the content of “Keeping up with market trends, promoting the supportive role for the economy in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic”, dialogues were held among Government agencies, localities, associations, domestic and foreign experts on key issues in the strategy of agricultural development towards digitization in the context of the world affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. From there, solutions are proposed to promote the digital transformation of Vietnam’s agriculture.

Delegates at the destinations discussed contents related to the topic “Shaping Vietnam’s digital agriculture until 2035” such as: Difficulties and advantages for digital transformation in Vietnam; the disruption of supply chains in localities in Vietnam – Current situation and solutions; opportunities for Vietnamese agriculture to make a breakthrough; strategic direction to develop agriculture in the new context; solutions and resources for digital agriculture in Vietnam.

Speaking at the forum, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized: One of the country’s development orientations for the 2021-2030 period is to develop agriculture on the basis of digital transformation and harmonious and efficient linkage of domestic and international markets. In order to turn Vietnam into a modernly industrialized country, the country has been promoting digital transformation in many fields, in which, agriculture is a priority field in the national digital transformation program. In the coming time, with the increasing requirements of the market, Vietnamese agriculture must increase its competitiveness and adapt to new conditions by applying smart technology to production. To prepare for an economic breakthrough after the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to coordinate with ministries and branches to make Vietnam access to new trends in the world; continue to propose initiatives and contribute to the development of the national economy in general and the agricultural sector in particular.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan commented that: Vietnam’s agriculture is currently facing three challenges including climate change, market fluctuations and changes in consumption trends in the world. Therefore, Vietnamese agriculture needs to apply technology and digital transformation in production and business to create a turning point in agricultural production, move from the stage of agricultural production to the agricultural economy based on scientific technology and digital transformation.

Speaking at the Hung Yen destination, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hung Nam emphasized: The Covid-19 epidemic is both a difficulty, a challenge, and an opportunity for the agricultural sector and people in the province to change their management and production thinking according to 4.0 technology. In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities should strengthen the propaganda work to change people’s production thinking from fragmented production to concentrated one, apply high technology in production; promote agricultural production in the direction of VietGAP, biosafety animal husbandry with stamps of origin traceability; establish cooperatives and cooperative groups to create linkages in agricultural production and limit risks for producers. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperates with the Department of Industry and Trade to advise the Provincial People’s Committee to develop a program to produce, advertise, and consume products to increase income for people.

On this occasion, the delegates pressed the button to open the Vietnam International Agricultural Virtual Reality Exhibition (AGRIEXPO) in 2021.
