Hotel Zum Roten Bären is situated in the heart of Freiburg. The hotel itself is very old and traditional. It is claimed that the hotel is the oldest guest house in Germany and entire Europe! It was founded almost 9 centuries ago…

The foundations of the hotel predate the founding of the town of Freiburg by the dukes of the House of Zähringen in 1120.

The floors are covered with carpets. The hotel grounds are very nice decorated. A bottle of water is free of charge as a gift for guests. Breakfast is amazing!

A few types of cheese, different ham and sausages, pastry, yoghurt, freshly brewed coffee, various teas, fruit salad, omelette, beacon, tasty bread, salmon, etc.

There is also a restaurant at hotel grounds.

Bear in mind that check in is between 3 and 7 p.m. If you come between 7 and 10 you have to check in at the restaurant. And you may have a problem, if you arrive after 10 p.m. Surprisingly there was no wi fi in room 11. Double bed is not as most of the people expect to have but 2 single beds put together.
